STEEL CHANNEL A36

A36 Steel Channel is a hot rolled, mild steel structural C shape with inside radius corners that is ideal for all structural applications, general fabrication, manufacturing and repairs. Steel Channel is widely used in industrial maintenance, agricultural implements, transportation equipment, truck beds, trailers, etc. It's C-shape or U-shape configuration is ideal for added strength and rigidity over steel angle when your project's load is vertical or horizontal. This steel shape is easy to weld, cut, form and machine with the proper equipment and knowledge.

It is a common building and construction material. It also used in the ship building and automotive industries, and general fabrication where structural properties are required. If laid flat, it can be measured by taking the width of the channels, the height of its Flange (legs) and Web (thickness of the material between the two flanges). More commonly it is measurement by taking its width and pounds per foot. Hot Rolled Channel comes in many sizes and shapes such as Bar Mill, Ships and Car Sizes, Stair Stringers (Junior) and the more common Structural Channel.

Steel Bar Channel

A rolled steel shape having a U-shaped cross section, with two narrower sides at right angles to a broader one. A shape is classified a "Bar Size Shape" when its greatest dimension is less than 3 inches. Our steel bar channels are made from ASTM A36 hot rolled steel. This gives the metal high durability and ductility, and the ability to resist shock and vibration. These attributes not only give the steel a long life, they also serve as reassurance that your structure will remain intact for many years to come.

Steel Structural Channel

It is a "Structural Shape" when at least one of its dimensions is 3 inches or greater. The structural channel, also known as a C-beam, is a type of (usually structural steel) beam, used primarily in building construction and civil engineering. Its cross section consists of a wide "web", usually but not always oriented vertically, and two "flanges" at the top and bottom of the web, only sticking out on one side of the web. It is distinguished from I-beam or H-beam or W-beam type steel cross sections in that those have flanges on both sides of the web.

Steel Junior Channel

Type of channel usually having a lighter weight than its closest bar channel size, usually 6 - 10 lbs per foot. A light weight rolled channel designed especially for stair stringers, but are adaptable for other structural applications where light weight is desired.

Steel MC Channel (Car/Ship)

Miscellaneous shapes suitable for car or ship building. MC-Channels is the short form for a further group of channel sections. They are produced with parallel flanges with tolerances according to ASTM A 484, the laser fused execution has additionally the product standard defined by ASTM A1069.

In contrast to the BC-Channels series, flanges and webs often have a different material thickness. The flanges are generally thicker compared to the webs, thus higher static values ? with equal profile height ? are achieved than with the BC-Channels.

In addition channels with parallel flanges are much easier to assemble as no conical flat washer have to be used to compensate the natural conicity of the C-Channel?s flanges.
The following austenitic grades are predominantly used for stainless steel structurals: 304, 304L, 316, 316L, they are defined by ASTM A276, ASTM A479 and ASME SA479.
